Never had an issue at all, and all of a sudden I get a delayed response trying to buy a dang shotgun?! Anyone ran into this?

It happens. Could be a NICS problem. TX CHL prevents delays.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Add your SSN and resubmit. No can do, not permitted once B/G check is initiated and placed in a "delayed" status by NICS! Happened to me once even with my CHL. NICS B/G with (TX) CHL or CHL from another state?

Guy told me it could take up to 3 days for the delay to clear. I got in my car and left....he called when I was about 1/2 way home and said it was approved so I turned around to pick it up.

A clerk told me once that people with common names were the most likely to get delayed because it takes longer to distinguish between individuals.

This is true (so I've heard), unless you put your SSN on the form...which should distinguish you from anyone else. And some people just don't want to do that for some reason or another??
Mmmm Hmmm

I used to get the initial delay basically everytime I tried to purchase a firearm. They would do a further check on the spot and after a few minutes I would still get approved. I always use my social and it still happened. Bought a new shotgun last night and didn't get delayed. Guess they figured out I am who I am.

NICS refers to it as a "further review" (higher tier of the B/G check). This often happens with common last names or if there is something in a persons B/G that needs a closer look.

That's what I meant Just seemed odd that it kept happening, I don't have anything shady on my record that I know about.

It's more than self-explanatory to me. I should have kept my keyboard mouth shut (again).

Watched an LEO in uniform get delayed at GT Distributors. A phone call came in very quickly to the store asking if he was still in the store. Then the local LEO's walked in to talk to him. Apparently his identity was being used by somebody else. Bad way to find out your identity had been stolen

How many reasons do y'all need? By "y'all" do you mean the United States Government? Cause all I do is sell/redeem a gun once or twice a week. And I know adding your SSN sometimes, speeds things up. Or so I've been told by the people who have been doing it a lot longer than me. Judging by your other posts, I'm painting you with my handy "Conspiracy Theorists" brush, until I hear otherwise.
Mmmm Hmmm
