I was looking around and found this hunt from last year, all DIY hunts, no hotels, eating only what they had killed and had in their kits for 45 days. 6 states and BC! Really cool. http://www.petersenshunting.com/border-to-border/

Pretty cool if you have a month or so to kill.

They listed their "gas" budget for the trip at $2000.. I'll bet for 2 people hunting 6 different states the hunting licenses and tags was more than the $2K. Remember they are "out of state" hunters in at least 5, if not all 6, of those states.
I'm not knocking what they did as I would love to do it. I just wish they had been more open with the total cost involved of such a journey. I'd bet all included it was $10K, or more. BUT, that's $10K well spent and I would do the same.

Yes they are out of state hunters and they did talk about the costs of tags in one or two area's, even gave the benefits of one states (WA I think) license over others. I could see gas budget at that amount and being ok with that. Now all of their gear was new (including the truck) but I am pretty sure it was all donated from sponsors. I would have to make due with some new specialty gear, but mostly use what I already have.

Sounds fun! I wish I had done something similar when I was younger.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

Just have to wait to draw a cpl tags instead of them being OTC. And pick up a few big sponsors... 26k trailer + 120k jeep conversion. And yes I'd take both in a heart beat
