Looking for ways to offset feed costs more than actually turn a profit at it. When 2000 pounds of protein isn't lasting three weeks on 465 acres, I think we have a bit of a population problem.

JMalin, With free range axis, Ive learned to stop gravity feeding protein. I just mix my spin feeders 50/50 with protein and corn and feed heavy year round. My neighbor to the South is 208acres. He fills his #3000 protein feeder every 3 weeks, well Country Boys does it for him. He told me its usually empty after 2 weeks. Some people can afford to do it, I cant.

If I can sell six axis doe hunts for $300 a pop, that $1800 would go a long way in reducing feed costs split three ways between me, my dad, and uncle. I want to keep feeding year round to continue seeing improvements in our whitetail herd, but the way the protein has been getting hammered this year, I'm not going to be able to.

You could get $300/head all day long.

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

$300 is a great rate right now and you should have no problem selling a few hunts. Or sell 1 buck hunt and you would cover plenty of protein.

Good afternoon sir. If you are serious about selling a few hunts I would definitely be interested in hunting a few does. Please let me know. Thank you.

Looking for ways to offset feed costs more than actually turn a profit at it. When 2000 pounds of protein isn't lasting three weeks on 465 acres, I think we have a bit of a population problem. At that consumption rate and considering live sale value of axis doe, I would say anywhere from $350 to $450 would be a fair price to you. I would probably try to sell a trophy hunt and give the doe away free after kill of the trophy/management buck. Most of the time if you put the price low on the doe, you end up with hunters that will want to hunt for a management buck or a look for a deal on a trophy buck.
