I picked up my first over under a couple weeks ago and I am wondering if I need to use grease instead of oil on the action. I have always used oil on my autos, but I have heard that grease is better for a break action. This gun won't get a ton of use, but I just want to make sure I am taking care of it. The manual was less than helpful, so any opinions are appreciated.

I don't remember the old saying but it goes something like... If it turns, oil it If it slides, grease it

I've used Pro-Gold lube (it's what Larry's hiding in his hand) for many years on a variety of O/U's. Stuff stays where it is, doesn't freeze up in cold weather and just plain works. http://www.proshotproducts.com/10cc-Syringe-Pro-Gold-Lube_p_617.html

Rifles are similar to boats and young women...there's no end to how much money you can pour into them without making them any more useful.

When I shot skeet & trap in college the guys on the team that shot over under shotguns would always lube the hinges with grease. If you use oil the oil can run into the wood stock and soak into the wood- which may soften and or discolor it.
After college I got a Beretta Silver Pigeon and used "Mystic Hi-Temp Red" grease that I got at O'Reilly's auto for $5 a tube and 1 tube will last you for YEARS; I also use this grease on all my choke tubes and lube my guns just like Larry shows in the video above.
