Nice, the only thing I don't like is the color! Just not into FDE, but I'm old. My granddaughter said "POPS" does OD in OD green mean "OLD DUDE" After I wiped my eyes I said, WHY? Well only old dudes are buying the OD Green VooDoo hats. Maybe she has a point!

Hello all, thanks for the complements. I'm the author and can ask any questions you may have as the project progresses. Brandon made a great rifle.
I chose FDE because most Texas environments are brown. But I get your reservation

Why did you go with the slick sided upper?

Am I reading the scale right that the finished gun weighed 10lbs 9.15 ounces?

I looked at JP Rifles RediRifle program and it seems like their 8.9 lb 308 rifle with rings and a 19.2 oz scope would total to about 10lb 2oz. Does the difference in bore explain the 7 oz difference. I know that at $3400 the JP is pretty pricey.
for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

I didn't choose a slick side, it was the upper that Brandon with South Texas Arms recommended and uses in his rifle builds. I was actually apprehensive about it at first, but the JP carrier looks great with it.
The weight minus ammunition and silencer was as the scale reads. It's very handy.

JP is sidecharging not sure if thats what you mean by a slick side. I remember seeing a video where, John Paul said he didn't like the T charging handle for the large frame rifles, I don't remember the reason. Like I said he's pricey.

A slick side has no forward assist. This is a slick side with no ejection port door.
