I just got back from my early season bear hunt with Ethan Savitsky (forum member) from Bar X Bar Ranch in Pecos, NM. Ethan put me on a beautiful chocolate/ blond color phase bear. We treed two other bears and a nice Tom lion during our hunt. My dad is headed there in September to fill his tag once the bears really fatten up. Ethan and his wife were great hosts and it was an awesome hunt - I plan to head back for another bear and bring my wife. My dad and myself   Cell phone picture of a nice Tom we ran across  Cub and sow tracks at one of the mud puddles.

Nice Bear! How much did it weigh? Is it not lion season? Not real sure what it weighed, we skinned and quartered it in the woods. Mine was a smaller bear but the coloring was too unique to pass up. I didn't buy a lion tag before the hunt.

Nice bear. I have a mt lion hunt with Ethan this year and bear hunt next year.

Brian, thanks for the kind words- we really enjoyed your hunt, and I'm already looking forward to packing out a bear hide for your Dad. Your family is welcome in our camp anytime! Here is a better photo of that big tom lion we caught and released.
