I'm curious if anyone has ever tried planting food plots in the western hill country. We have both protein and corn feeders on the lease, but I am curious if there is something that could be easily planted and grown that could serve as an extra attractant. It's in Menard County

Throw rye grass seed all around your feeder area. Cheap and it works.

It's in Menard County Oats grow around Kerr county pretty good if we get the rains.

I don't like regular type rye (cereal rye not included), like gulf annual, sure deer will eat it when it is new and short, but not preferred from what I have seen. Oats and wheat are a whole different "thang". As for anyone else, rain/moisture will be the key to any plot.
