I had 7500 acres last year in Kent county but did not want that drive anymore(I live in Wichita Falls). I did find one just 15 mins from the house here now in clay county. 2000 acres. Have a few feeders out there and going for awhile but jet a few deer and pigs is all. I hope it picks up as things begin to dry up. Anyone hunt clay county and know what one can expect as far and numbers and size?

We hunt 650 Acres in Bellevue and we have seen some 140 class animals on camera but not with the eyes. A lot of pigs. The first 2 weeks of NOV tend to show the most numbers and best quality deer. We need a good rain spoil the acorn crop that will be excellent this year.

I hunt clay county and have had decent success seeing animals during season but last year was a bit of an anomaly, but my
Time experience is small (3 complete seasons) so it may be that the previous years were high and last year was different. Anyway, we typically have deer morning and evening, very little if any during the daytime where I hunt. Very sporadic hogs, not enough to even try to pattern, lots of coyotes and some Bobcats.

Bodies seem very healthy this year with an abundance of wet and growth, still very green and lush at my lease, I am sure you know this though living so close. Have seen some good deer on camera, have taken some nice deer the last couple years and hoping to get more this year. Going to hit bow season heavy this year, then early
November, and lay low through December. If we haven't gotten enough deer by rut we will hit it again in January and late season.
We don't typically see 150-160 class deer but we see plenty in the 120-130 range and an occasional 140 class deer on my cameras, yet to see one in person.

Where is your 2000 acres? I am south of Henrietta along 148, west side of the road.

South side of patrolia. I have only had 3 doe show up and two pigs that I'm going to try and take out this weekend. We have 4 large stock tanks so there is plenty of water. The guy that I am hunting with says once the colder weather hits and some point in October they see more and more deer. This is just my second season here(I'm military) but last season on my other place I was covered up in deer and a lot of bucks. My son and I each shot high 140's 10's. Hope things pick up as folks describe as I'd liked to get my son his first bow kill.

Yeah I think it will pick up once it cools a bit. I find a big change in patterns with warmer weather and colder weather and the deer that frequent my place are fair weather deer, they don't like snow, rain, or other bad weather, so that's why we are going to try and hit bow season heavy. Both of us are hoping to get our first bow deer, and hoping my oldest daughter can take a deer home this year too. Good luck and keep us posted!

I have had English water spaniels, springer, Britt, German short and now an English setter. I will now only own setters from here on out.

This is my first year hunting clay we are right outside of bellevue and we are covered in hogs and have a lot of does we have no bucks on camera at all we've only seen 2

South side of petrolia can be pretty open in places but I have seen some very nice deer too. Depending on exact area I would hunt close to creeks or tanks as water can be a bit scarce. I'm just a bit farther south of you and our deer average in the 130-140 range with a dressed weight of around 150lbs in bucks. There have been several larger scoring deer shot in the area but it's not a every year thing.

Yes some places are very open. This 2200 acre plot is thick thick thick, with 4 tanks. I checked seven cameras this weekend and starting to see a few more deer in areas that have been dead. We have pigs out there as well and took one big 265 lb boar out this past Saturday night. Was a blast, I just purchased a night vision scope and that was its first kill.

Pigs seem to come and go in spurts in our area or only hit certain areas.

Find doe, there will be bucks. And bucks aren't moving yet.

Checked all cameras before sitting out last night for pigs. First time I've had bucks at feeders and had a bunch.....I was beginning to wonder if there were any. Some good ones too. Heard the pigs but none came to the feeders last night

My cell cam shows bucks coming in and dominating the feeder from the doe. I need to
Turn the spin time longer next time up there. Historically, bucks begin to shed on my
Lease around the end of August, so if they haven't already, next time you check
Cams they may be hard horned...

Bummer about the pigs. Had a line boar coming to one feeder but never when I was there. If he is showing up again I have a blind set up to take him now.
