a couple of years ago I bought a Remington 1100 super mag thinking that it would be a great gun for not only dove hunting but for goose hunting also. Well I haven't had the chance or the time to go goose hunting and I have a bad time of the shotgun not wanting to cycle the dove loads. It will do well for a little bit but then it jams up. I have tried different brand s of shotgun shells and still the same result. I clean it religiously and still can not prevent it from jamming. I am to the point I would rather sell it and buy a Benelli. Anyone have any suggestions before I go to this extreme?

I've had 3 friends with same problem. Remington says its due to not cleaning enough. BS.

Take it completely apart, clean it perfectly. Lube it with Teflon lube. If it still jams, put it in the closet and go buy a new gun. I wouldn't sell it unless I revealed the jamming to the buyer.

Bobcat1 that is exactly what I've done. I've gone so far as taking it all the way down to the trigger and cleaning it. I've used a silicon lube and still having the problem. I'd probably take the first $400 someone would offer if that ever came up. But I've resigned to just going ahead and buying a Benelli. I know they are pricey but well worth it and a good investment. Thank y'all for the input.

You have to buy a new light barrel, there are more holes "where the gases are working through" in the light barrel to allow cycling of light loads. I called Remington and talked to them about it and spent the $250 on a barrel and never had a problem after that. It's sucks but that's what it is.

I shoot an 1187 with a light contour barrel. Have been shooting it at doves for 20 years. Only had 1 price break in it and I fixed that myself with a used part off of eBay. I know you have an 1100 but it is very similar. I had a problem once with it not ejecting the shells. Took it to a gunsmith and he fixed it in 5 minutes with wd-40 and a little wire brush that looked like a toothbrush. I had never paid much attention to it on any of my guns but I do now and never have any problems. Take your barrel off the gun. Spray some oil in the back of the barrel where the shell would sit when it's on the gun. Take that wire brush and start brushing that are vigorously. Spray more oil and repeat. Then take a rag and wipe it. Keep scrubbing it until it isn't black anymore. The gun powder builds up right there and before long the shell starts sticking. Hope it works for you!

If you get an SBE you need to be sure and get the heavy dove loads I've heard they can be temperamental with light loads, if I'm wrong someone who knows for sure will jump in. If you want to shoot light loads you may want to look into a gas operated semi. Bunch of good ones out there
There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Had two old 1100s for years shooting anything any round no problems never really clean them other than a few blasts of oil every once and while.
I had a newer same problem as above. Get rid of it or I guess buy new barrel.

I know a couple guys with cheap Turkish autoloaders that they claimed shot well. They said they failed to properly cycle with softer shooting loads when they were new, but once they had been well run in with stout loads they functioned fine with the softer stuff. Maybe the Remy requires a good break-in, with tolerances in manufacturing these days...

Bermise I'm looking at getting the Vinci Good gun. I have the Benelli Cordoba in 12 & 20 gauge and I love them both. The 12 is a great go to gun but the 20 Cordoba kicks like a 28 gauge, very fun to shoot.
