I have some Rocky lace ups that are probably 15 years old. I'm not sure what confidence I have in a pair worn as much as these.

Looking for a decent brand, preferably with a slip on / zipper function in the $100- $150 range.

I looked at the Game Winners that Academy had on sale for $99 a couple weeks ago and they seemed VERY stiff. I guess in time they would break in but not sure enough to write the check.

Appreciate any firsthand feedback. Here are the old ones.

I just got some Cabela's Boas. I really like them so far. They are slip on and tighten with a ratchet.

I've checked a bunch of them out, and I like Lacrosse. They are the tallest of the ones I've checked out & come right up to my knee cap. My first pair (in the photo background) lasted a long time.

I had some Irish setters, loved them but after a few hard seasons they started to leak water and then the soles started to separate they were a good boot. Then I bought some Chippewas well I can't get them on my foot so after trying to put them on a few times and hunting in whatever I had (they fit perfect in the store BTW). I picked up a pair of the academy snake boots and they have lasted 4 full seasons fixing to start there 5th. I still have a pair of Chippewas in the closet worn them 3 times....

I've got a pair of Rockys that have just a zipper and they're very comfortable. They get a little warm at times but I figure that's to be expected.

I've got the same pair of Rockies you have. They no longer will stand up straight. They are however the most comfortable boots I own. Just have them re-soled and keep going when you get to that point. I also bought a pair that zip up the side, but they just are not as comfortable.

I'm going with zip-up Chips. I've done the lace-up Cabela's boots, but they don't keep the water out and the laces are a pain.

I have a pair of Redheads and they are super comfortable, but like you mentioned, I hate the laces so much I hardly ever wear them. I bought them for support after I broke my ankle just days before an elk hunt, so they got me through that I suppose.

Zip up Chippewas are by far my favorite just not water proof, I do have several other pairs from cabelas and they are all good. But never fails that my socks end up wet!

Chippewas are comfortable and lightweight, not waterproof. I love the Justin snake boots as well but are heavier and weight is beginning to be a factor.
Adios,
Gary

I have three pair. Chippewa ALL LEATHER. The Chippewas with the Cordura uppers tore my achilles up on both ankles. I have a pair of Danners that have Cordura uppers and are very comfortable. The ones I've been wearing the most in the past couple years are Twisted X like these. http://www.overstock.com/Clothing-Shoes/...02/product.html

I have Game Winner from Academy, lace up with side zipper. They are very comfortable from day one. My wife has the Chippewa and loves them.

I have the Cabela's zip ups for 6 yrs and they have been good boots. Comfortable and still waterproof. The boots I wear at the ranch have never left the ranch so they last a long time, since they have never touched cement. That helps I'm sure.

I would have to agree with Gary on the Chippewas, I have had my last pair for about 7yrs now and they are very comfortable and keep my feet dry and warm. Hey Gary I see you have a new pair of Chippewas from watching Carnivore last week and learning about Uncle Bass Outlaw.

My slip on Chippewas are water proof. They are a pain to get off and on but very comfortable. Before my Chips, I always wore the Game Winners from Academy. They are lightweight and comfortable, but only lasted me a few years at a time but heck for $100 you can't beat them. There was also no break in time with the Game Winners, had to break in my Chips.

Ive owned several brands of snake boots. I currently own a pair of everlast. From the looks of things, I bet they don't make it through October and I got them in august never warn, but second hand online. A little loose around the ankle. If you walk a lot, boots just fall apart.

I've tried several of them. Bought a pair of Lacrosse square toe cowboy type boots a while back and really like them.
