Finally, but we all still face a huge hassle to meet the testing requirements thru out the season.
I just hope all this time and expense will provide the answers they are looking for.

Exactly how do you think they will find answers when they destroyed their sample herd?? All they can find out is how many tested positive. That's the least valuable data set possible.

Maybe they see the whole state herd as the "sample"

They might. But that would be foolish. You can't do the research regimen on free ranging deer that you can on captive deer. And it's gonna be sooooo much more expensive. But I guess, that's the point.

We need to find a way to increase the accuracy of the live test so that we are not killing just to satisfy the mandate! I went to the recent meeting with the Deer Breeders and TPWD and Animal Health, They will continue to apply restraint on the breeders and will handle each as a case by case basis. I wish Animal Health and TPWD would start applying their resources more so on the wild deer to see at what level CWD is affecting them. The Deer Breeders who are registered have been testing their herds on a voluntary basis for some as long as 10yrs. CWD is alot like Parkinson's to humans, so do we kill everyone that has a family member suffering from Parkinson's to make sure that the disease does not travel outside the family circle. Ok I have vented, returning back to work!

It is like most things. They will never find a cure, what causes it,or how to prevent it. Look at Live Oak wilt, decline or what ever it is. They have been working on it for close to half a century and it is worse now than it has ever been.

See if you were to treat that oak wilt like they do a CWD study. You would just go and cut down all of the trees. Then test them and see how many had oak wilt. And we would learn nothing other than which one had oak wilt.
