Started to go to Eraths on Friday, lunch did not agree with me so I Crawfished (stayed home napped) grin bolt
Well it worked out great, my son wanted his family to participate in painting his high school senior parking space.

Friday day, wife (Deb) bought the recommended paint from Sherwin Williams, Deb & Wyatt peeled old paint off and put new base down.
Saturday early, early it is on full force, Deb, Wyatt, daughter Victoria & boyfriend doing detail painting folks (I am the errand boy), then Oops find out Sherwin Williams recommended wrong Paint to us & a lot of folks hammer

Saturday evening buy new paint and start all over bang , today Sunday 6:30 am get after it and gotter done cheers

That's a unique idea. Kinda wish we could have done that senior year.

It is a racket now with Richardson High School, they auctioned off the spaces to purportedly raise $$ for other functions hammer
One spot went for $340.00 loco

A lot of great kids (seniors) wanted a spot but no way could afford the $$ they were getting. To me its a shame that the school would employ such tactics to get $$ and leave a heck of a lot of kiddos with out the memory!

Never heard of this before, but think it's a very creative idea. Love that those kids who want to pay for it, can spend their money and help out the school. So much better then just raising everyone taxes. Especially since those that cannot afford it, or do not want to spend the money, don't have to.

My school allowed seniors to do that as well. It was free and seniors were just assigned spots in the senior parking lot randomly. I doubt they let them do that anymore at the new high school though. Brady high.

When I went to Richardson (class of 1980) the Seniors had thier own parking lot and it was first come. There were more Seniors than spots. Didn't matter to me, I could see the school from my back window.

I had never heard of the reserved Senior spots until last year at Rains County HS in Emory.

EddieWalker

FYI: Very few of those kids will pay a dime out of their pocket for these spaces (spaces went from $170.00 to $340.00). We are splitting the cost with our son (IOU from him laugh ) so it is who's parents have & will lay down the most $$. Glad my son got a space and we were able to make it happen for him. I know 3 of his friends that are absolutely great kids who would have died for a space, their parents have no $ to contribute. I would like to see a more fair & equitable way to allocate/distribute these spaces. Also the money is going to social activities Prom etc. So there are No Tax ramifications involved!

Life is not fair, but this makes it tougher for deserving kids that will be Seniors only once and the memory they won't have a chance to have!

Life is not fair for sure, but purposely creating an unfair situation (using public property, no less) stinks. Teaches absolutely the wrong lesson on several levels. JMHO.

I hesitate to say this, but I'd prefer he not drive on an image of our flag.

The project is a neat thing to do together with your son, but in a time when we don't want people stomping on the flag and disrespecting it, it sends the wrong message. How do you not walk/drive on it? If it were me I'd change it to bigger stars on blue or something, but not a flag image.

Sorry for bringing out the negative, but a good lesson could be taught here.

Scoop

I understand your concern.

First of all my son Wyatt is currently working on his Eagle Scout project and in no way would intentionally disrespect our great nations in any form or fashion.

We proudly painted both Flags that are near and dear to us so that many can see and hopefully enjoy! He will not intentionally drive over or on the flag although that will happen. My thought is that is better to see Old Glory clean or dirty than to not see her at all up

We can also look past any dirt or grime to enjoy the spirit of why we proudly painted flag texas on his space!
