Hey everyone! So I am on my first deer lease with a few friends and I have hogs showing up by the dozen to my feeder. I also have plenty of deer when the hogs aren't around. My question is will I be hurting my deer hunting in November if I start shooting a bunch of hogs?
I am a little more hesitant because this property hasn't been hunted in over 15 years and the deer seem tame. I don't want to spook them before getting my first deer hunts in. Any input is appreciated.

I'm afraid the amount of hunting it would take to put a dent in your pig population would also run the deer of at least temporarily. Just a pig here and there for some meat in the freezer shouldn't bother them, though. My answer is intentionally vague because there are no guarantees when it comes to wildlife.

I you get rid of the hogs the deer will hit the feeders more, but getting rid of the hogs is easier said then done Now if you are after big bucks then the more you disturb things the lower the chance you have, in my opinion.

Hit the hogs hard now and through September and any deer you might run off will be back by November.

They will run your deer off, always sling some lead in their direction.

If they are all mature pigs, after you shoot and kill a few they will go away for the most part unless that is the only area for them to feed. Just what has happened to me. Only bad part is a new group usually moves in after a couple months.

We hit the pigs hard this time of year. We will back off in October. By then we have hunted and trapped them pretty hard. Most will be dead or relocated. Like dgilbert sad, they scare off the deer. If the pig population gets out of hand they can get really aggressive at feeders and then you will have no deer. If you don't like the idea of shooting at your feeders, trap them in active areas away from feeders, it will help. We had to have three traps going at one time to get ahead of them. Hunting with a suppressor is a good idea too.
Edited to add: I have a place that I hunt near Medina Lake that I do not get a chance to make it over too often enough to scare off the pigs. I have about 50 pigs that actually lounge around the feeder almost all day, even in this 100 degree heat. The deer are almost not ever seen on camera, I have work to do.

I've shot plenty of hogs in fields with deer nearby. The deer run off but come back to feed fairly quickly. Now this isn't at a feeder. The deer never feed too close to the pigs and always give way when the pigs get too close. So my advice is shoot the pigs when ever you see them.

Letting the pigs go for now will not help your deer population. Pop the pigs every chance you get and push them out. The deer won't go far and will return shortly. Always keep pressure on the pigs...

Always keep pressure on the pigs... I agree with this sentiment! The pigs will cause the deer to vacate the premises, so your task is to vacate the pigs instead.

New Member here, but long time hunter/shooter. I've hunted in Cooke county for around 35 years,we have hogs all over the place on the Red River and we shoot them year round. We also have a very good deer population and they don't seem to be bothered at all about hogs being shot almost daily on the property by the landowner and those of us that hunt there. There are several traps set up on the property, but as you know, the pigs get smart to being trapped.
We've killed hogs at night, and the next morning killed deer around the same spot, the deer really don't get bothered by us hunting hogs.

Good luck and happy shootin, you'll never be able to shoot them all so sling lead each time you see a pig they will eventually run off the deer
