I'd hold off until it cools off, and the 15 day outlook for Durant shows nothing but heat. Certainly not before Sept 1, imo. Did you do a soil test to see if it actually needs more lime?

Ditto on the soil sample, no point wasting your cash. I'd definitely hold off on fertilizer and put that out just before you plant, same day.

Also what BOBO said....

Going to disc now is a good thing if it is covered in weeds and other vegetation though, nice and dry should help kill the plot off for the next disc and plant day.

×3 on what the previous 2 said. Later part of Sept and definitely don't lay down fertilizer until you plant (same day or at the same time).

Looking at mid OCT, if rain chances are high mid/late SEP I might plant early.

I have planted that area a few times with a guide I personally know and have hunted/fished with him. Sept 1st is when he plants each year. Put down the lime two weeks to a month before planting and fertilize while planting. Always great to time the plant right before a rain (you lose less seed to critters that way), but not really needed. My place outside Ardmore, Ok will be planted the same time this year. Have been doing it there for 4 years now and have always had a good crop. For reference, I always planted Collin, Grayson and Fannin counties around second week of September.
