In case y'all haven't heard, there is a massive wildfire burning right now from Rocksprings towards Juno.

Started just west of Rocksprings, just south of 377 and is burning towards 277 and Juno. The info I have is sketchy, not sure if it has already burned past 277 and is approaching Juno - or that is just the projected path.

But is seems to be a very big fire and is not under control yet.

Hot Dang, My old property was 13 miles down Hwy. 674. Has to be right in the fire zone. That is some pretty rugged & remote area to fight a fire in. Hope everyone in that area comes out O.K.

Brown Ranch Fire. Depending on the website somewhere between 30 and 50% contained. Over 16,000 acres burned to date.

Here's a map I found: http://www.esri.com/services/disaster-response/wildlandfire/latest-news-map

If it makes it much further northwest, it'll hit a ranch that I was on on a lease, CR402. It burned up in the last round of wildfires in 2011.

Loc: Richmond, Texas
This is directly from Texas A&M Forest Service as of 9:30a.m. today:
9:30 a.m. CST Brown Ranch Complex Fire

The Brown Ranch Complex Fire is now at 50% containment the size is still holding at 16,521 acres. Fire engines from the Texas Intra State Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS) are on the fire helping in the firefighting effort. The Alamo Type 3 incident management team is in place to help manage the incident.

Texas A&M Forest Service firefighters are working with local and TIFMAS partners to contain the fire.

You can also go to the Canyon Broadcaster Facebook page where they are posting continuing updates about the fire. They are currently reporting 40% containment. The rain helped with containment but variable winds are creating a logistical issue for suppression efforts.

And yet when 1000 acres go up in CA it's on every natl news agency and hand wringing and 'how is the govt going to help'. Two summers ago we had over 5 million acres burn in Texas and Obama wouldn't declare a disaster area.

We don't need him. We're Texans and take care of one another. Prayers up they're able to get this fire under control soon, and most importantly. No loss of life.
