I had the same issue setting the focus on my NF's just takes some practice, TIP don't stare into the reticle for a long time, make short quick adjustments. Easiest way I found is to get it to blur and adjust out the opposite until its crisp. I'm with FIREMAN on the Bushnell, it tracks just as good as NF and I can't tell much difference in clarity. I know a NF dealer so I get a small cut on the price, its the only reason I have two of them.

Bad design.
I like to look at the sky, focus the reticle, lock that down and never touch it again. Then when I increase magnification all I have to do is adjust parralax. Aint no body got time to keep readjusting the reticle clarity!

Aint no body got time to keep readjusting the reticle clarity! you dont have to keep focusing the reticle, NF would have never got a military contract if that were the case..... that's why i said you have to put your hands on one... you set the diopter focus for reticle once, it has a lock and you are done just like any other scope....

It was designed that way so under stress and cold conditions you could just grab the rear of the scope and adjust magnification without hunting for a ring. I have had an NSX since June 2010 and after setting the focus once it has never moved, the rifle it sits on is no safe queen. IMO: Money invested in an NF will repay you over a lifetime of shooting.
