Looks like an amazing trip! This is the first time in 5 years we havent spent a week in Destin! Kids are so disappointed, however, a new house and a new baby have kept us sidelined this year.

Glad you all had a great trip. Nice reds by the way!

Glad you were able to get into some reds, we were hoping to be able to surf fish for them but we didn't have much luck from the beach for anything but hardhead cats. We did rent a kayak and drop some bait about 150-200 yards off-shore and got into three sharks, that was a blast.

Wish I would have seen your thread before you went, would have recommended Bills on the beach, a new restaurant along beach blvd real close to the public beach, amazing food there. Are there twice and will go back for sure. Also, Janino's pizza a little further down beach blvd was awesome pizza. Will hit that shins next year when we go.

Thanks everyone cheers

We saw a lot of sharks and a couple of big ones, just never hung into any. The Reds were a blast and would have liked to see a couple more tarpon come in. Was a blast to watch them fight.

We cooked a few meals and only ate out a couple of nights. The Oyster House was good food, but I don't recommend Caymans.

Love the family pictures. Kids are having a time of their life. Looks like you were at the end of pier at the Hexagon? Reds are great. Did you see any big Kings caught ? Any golf course freeway gators?cheers

To avoid downtown traffic around Mobile take 63 South before Lucedale MS, down to I 10. Its a few more mile but smooth sailing. Hwy 98, downtown, and I65 stands still sometime

I posted on the Texas Fishing forum looking for a guide for Gulf shores. I got no response. Inshore if possible. Looks like I should have been asking you guys. Any advise on a guide?

Yes sir, end of the pier. The Reds would run toward the middle hexagon but not as often or as many. No big Kings but we did see some come by. Only other big fish was the tarpon but it was only the one.

Made it down there and through two rounds of golf with no gators...

Think the issue coming into mobile the trip down was a car stalled in the tunnel. When we took I-10 back, it was still heavy traffic but not terrible.

Thanks for the info before I left, it helped up

I didn't end up going on the trip, but talked to a guide named Scooter that seemed like a good guy over the phone. He responded and kept me updated.

I am sure that some others have first hand experience but PM if you want his number

We didn't eat at either of them. Tried Lulus but the wait was 2.5 hours. Only ate at Caymans and the Oyster House. Bet one of these other guys that have been there a few years can give you some ideas.

We go to LuLus every year just for the "environment"... It's a fun place to hang out. Just get there early and start visiting the little bars outside, it makes the time go a lot quicker. Pretty good food too. Other than that I'm not too sure, we usually cook 5 out of 7 nights to save a little money!

We are leaving out Friday to spend the week in Gulf Shores. Last year I caught a couple of sharks from the beach however I would like to know how you were catching the big reds from the pier? Were you using live bait? I thought about going out with a guide but I don't have anyone to split the cost with, any suggestions? Thanks for any info!

We were using artificial. Chartreuse and white tubes with spilt tails. Off the end of the pier, facing east. Most the action was between 7-11 in the morning and 4:30-8 in the evening. Schools would come through about every 45 minutes.

Honestly never occurred to me either, but it was a great trip. Plenty to do with the kids too and a lot of things that we never got around to seeing that looked like they would be a lot of fun cheers
