Been seriously thinking about getting another pistol. And before someone jumps on saying "you're a minor", this'll all be done through legal channels. Also known as my dad. Lol. Been wanting a G17 gen 4, but dad thinks it's ugly. want a 9mil. Or a .22. Dad will eventually get a 226 MK25, so not wanting to go that way, even though I love SIGs. Price range is under $600, total cost. G17 is top contender (have a couple of places that I can get from for $500ish). Let's see what y'all say.

Just like that tikka 708 you got lol. I love how my purchase habits are somehow affecting your life, even though I've never met you nor do I know where you live. That was actually personal choice, if your un-itchable itch of knowing what a teenager does must be itched.

Have you shot the XD and the M&P? I view the Glock/XD/M&P as functionally interchangeable, so it really comes down to which one fits best in the hand, or some other personal preference.

look around and find a police trade in (Glock) Carried a lot, shot little, priced right. I have carried a Glock since 1985, I also have Sigs, but I ALWAYS have my Glock.

If you're buying a plastic gun, this is the correct mindset. If you want a real gun, buy a RIA 1911 in .45 or 9mm. The 9mm has almost no recoil in the 1911.

I just found a police trade in deal on a Glock 22 with 3 mags and night sights all the stuff from factory and all the grips that comes with the Gen4 Glocks. All for $392 shipped. It is pretty much newish condition, night sights are very bright still I'm very happy. Of course the 22 is 40 cal not 9mm.

Chital like boonee said the police trade ins are the best deal (IMO) on Glocks. I've even seen quite a few Gen 4 trade ins. The best place (again IMO) for the trade in guns is GT Distributors in Dallas and also Austin. They often have G17's in the box with night sights and 3 mags for $350. These are usually Gen 3 guns but I've seen a number of Gen4's too.

You can't beat a glock. The 17 is a pretty large gun. If you're wanting decent ammo capacity in a moderate sized gun I would recommend the glock 19.

I would get a Glock 19. Little more compact.

I've had a lot of different pistols over the years; FN, Sig, Glock, Beretta, S&W, Bersa, 1911s.
As of the last couple of years, there are no guns I prefer over the very inexpensive, reliable, and accurate Tristar CZ 75 clones. I even prefer them to the original CZ for cost and fit/finish. Academy usually has a variant for about $329. I have the C-100, T-100, and T-120. They just work and look great as well. I do replace the stock grips with VZ Frags; but that is just personal preference.

G19 is not a bad choice! I have had my G19 since 1988, IF I had to sell all my handguns but 1, It would be the last to go.

I'm not big on Glock - they just don't fit my hand well and the trigger is mediocre at best. I much prefer my springfield XD, but it's just personal preference as others have said. Don't buy anything without trying a few out.
@ $600 for one pistol, I'd get a Ruger 1911 in stainless. It's a hair above your budget, but not too much. If you're absolutely firm at $600, I'd get the XD for $400 and 750 rounds of ammo.

Tried out VP9, G17, XD4, and of course, the p226 and mk25.
Guess which one I'm set on now.
From $500, now I have to save up another $5-650. Either the MK25 or the Tacops.
I dunno the trigger pull, grips, and sights just entrap me every time I feel it.
