We have an occasional hog or two that come and go from our place now. We would like to get some extra shooting in so we were thinking of putting some bait out and trying to hammer a few pigs. Question is, will it hurt to put sour corn around our feeders? Will this spook the deer from continuing to come in? Thanks for any help guys

Honestly I wouldn't put anything like that on the ground so that it leaks into the soil. If you're going to bait hogs do it away from the feeder as once you bring them in they are likely to stay.
Again that's just my opinion. 👍🏼

I been bashed for sayin this but try some "HOG WILD" mixed into your corn in the feeder. It's only 7 or 8 bucks a bag. I put some in my lone summer feeder that goes off at 9:45 PM or so, one bag in the feeder. Prior to the product I had an occasional hog show up. Three days after the product was mixed into the feed, I get pics texted to me all night long, many with multiple pigs hitting the candy sweet feed. Eight or ten days after mixing in the product, I'm getting a lot of deer coming in as well, many more than prior to product insertion. Did the "HOG WILD" cause the uptick in activity? I can't say for certain as I don't have the other two feeders running yet. I think it did draw in more critters in my humble redneck opinion. For 8 bucks you can give it a go and see what you think.
Cheers

Question is, will it hurt to put sour corn around our feeders? Will this spook the deer from continuing to come in? Thanks for any help guys Won't spook the deer anymore than moving the feeder 10 feet will spook the deer. Your regulars might find it peculiar, then in a day or so realize it is nothing, and their routine will return. When I tried soured corn at my place, the deer and coons ate it before any hogs ever showed up. I have used it multiple times with zero hog results, then got tired of making it. Something to think about...if it is the scent of the soured corn or other miracle mix that is supposed to bring in the hogs, then all you need to do is to make a single batch, dip a couple old wash cloths in it, and hang them from the feeder or nearby tree and use them as scent lures. It is the magical aroma that is supposed to bring in the animals, to attract them, right? A single 5 gallon mix would last you all summer and get riper as the summer progressed.

My (limited) experience is that the deer will likely ignore the sour corn, but it won't scare them away. I have a small bit (one sample) of anecdotal evidence that using something like hog wild may work. In my case, I just use strawberry or cherry Jello. I sometimes (when I think about it, which isn't often — that is, I seldom think much these days) sprinkle Jello powder inside a trap. On one occasion we caught a 295# boar that previously would not set foot inside the trap. He was running the other hogs away and eating up all the corn that we had spread outside of the trap. I presume the Jello lured him in. As I mentioned above that's only a single data point, and it's difficult to draw conclusions from only one piece of evidence. In this case the hog was already showing up around the trap area. I don't think Jello or anything else will pull hogs in from a distance. If you're simply running a feeder in an effort to attract hogs, I recommend plain old corn.
I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.

All you need is corn. It won't take long for the hogs to find it. I ran three feeders last season with game cameras at all of them. Any time I saw hogs at the feeders any deer in the pictures were in the background and wouldn't come close. What I ended up doing what putting fences up around two of the feeders and saving them for deer only. Both deer and hogs came to the third feeder but just not at the same time.

I've used regular corn, Hog Wild, sour corn and other various attractants. I can honestly say I see no difference in the results, so I stick to regular or maybe Apple flavored corn.

I would just use corn. If you get pigs that stay your deer numbers will go down at that feeder.

My hogs squeal for Indian Corn. It's the magic! With the early and sustained rains that some areas received, Indian Corn production is looking very good. Rumor has it, there is a lot of red-phase this year. We all know what that means!!!! May as well buy that extra deep freeze now fellas. I'm hoping the pricing is more reasonable this year. .

If you're already feeding corn out of your feeders the local pigs know it's there already, but something that smells nice never hurts. We bait pigs to our feeders all year long, have them showing up every night, and I still get plenty of deer on the cameras.
11:00 p.m. is when everything seems to be picking up on our places right now, so I'd definitely plan on staying up a little later than usual.
