The pigs didn't show last night, so they won. I'm frustrated and ready to sell all my stuff.

That is all.

Have patience guys.

We all know that hogs are transient. You'll be covered up with them (as I am right now) and then nothing (or few) for periods of time.

It can be quite frustrating to see hogs on your game cameras, night after night....then be GONE the one time you are able to go hunt them. But it happens that way sometimes.

Hang in there.

Flint.

Flat out blew it tonight... Had two come over for laser-tag... Laser was bouncing all over the tall weeds... As much as wanted hog for grillen & chillen... Mosketos tore up my ear, soaked it in rubbing alchahol, took freeze-pop & wraped around ear... Hate ta think what would have been like taking backstraps & hind quarters, been known ta stab meself while quartering a hog with mosketoes pestering me... Good thing had a good medic their with me, my daughder.... flag

This time of year the hogs have a mind of their own. Yes it is hot and they do hang out in the watery areas, but their feeding patterns are all thrown off and I honestly think that if they can get away with eatin, sleepin and dumpin in the same spot they will so that they don't build up too much body heat. I would get as close to a water source as possible and look for the freshest hog sign you can find. Don't forget that hogs have a very good nose for humans.

Recently got a gym membership, strange folks! I like to show up the roid zombies with my full motion curls with the 55lb. bells. Not their cheater short stroked light weights. It's holarious.

Next trip I'm going late and staying to the wee hours of the morning. I normally get to my spot around 8:30, but they're not showing up until midnight or later these days. Arriving at &:30 and staying until 1::00 makes for a long sit. I think the key for me is minimizing the non productive hours I just sit and see nothing. Patience is not one of my strong suits.

Okay bigjoe, if you don't have a partner to go with you and pass the time quietly, then I have a suggestion, depending on your hunting situation. If you aren't set up close to a feeder or if you are in a box stand where you aren't apt to hear much going on anyway, with a single ear plug, listen to the radio, a podcast, or audiobook. I listen to a lot of audiobooks when I am not watching nature. Listening does a particularly helpful job on nights where there isn't much going on. The story keeps me alert, as opposed to me getting bored and falling asleep.

I do not suggest this if you are set up very close to the feeder or on the ground. You definitely want all of your hearing capability in those situations.

cheers Dogs keep hogs moving here so they can be tough ta pattern.. Cam's can help limit time sitting... Had troubles with timer on corn feeder, so was spinning by hand.. Lots of rain earlier, so plenty of browes for deer, reason for feeders... Found bugs in corn so been hand throwing in big area ta get rid of corn... Hogs travel creek were have food plot& corn feeders.... Had pic of a hog show up at 8:22pm... So threw extra corn out aftrr checking pics... Warm weather, dont realy care bout battling the mosketoes, went sat at iY8:13 in ground blind... Weeds grown up, & at think 8:37pm hogs were 25yrds away... i messed up, laser bouncing off weeds... Should have just used scope & squeeesed trigger... Just that short time mosketoes tore me up.. Getting backstraps & hind quarters, the mosketoes would have been 100fold... Had yotes, squirrel, heard other noises, hogs feeden, rofl didnt realize it till looked at cam of that night, hogs were slowly feeding on corn, twards me... They were actualy out at 8:07pm... Figured they would show up later than night before... Got slim shooting lane now & throwing the corn found with bugs out starting by cam closest ta creek, they walken litterly right under tree stand in edge of woods between two feeders... & been pudding a pile of corn were they were night before... Best wishes & hope yya have better luck than me... Edit: not an expert, but enjoy hunten... As pappy once said: my biggest problem with hogs, is getting access to problem area's, once thar, finding em tis the easy part.. flag

I checked about 15 cameras last week (North and South Texas) and everything seems to be moving from about 11:00 p.m. - 1:30 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Had 6 out of 8 hunters hunters shoot at pigs within 5 minutes of 11:40 p.m. last week.

I've got 4 cellular cameras in north Texas. Everything starting moving about 8:45 and was intermittent throughout the night until after 8:00 am.

They will show up eventually. Lots of food for them to eat in the summer.
