I think it's a heck of an idea. Would it be illegal to go anchor that blind the night before, take a couple cots and not have to get up at 3 a.m. to get your spot early?
There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Actually I started the project about 5 or 6 years before that aired. They need to takes notes from me. They have no bunks, kitchen nor crapper.

In a wma that allows boats, yes it would be illegal depending on entry\exit times. On public outside wma lands, perfectly legal. An anchor light is all that is required.

I don't know what date this was but I drove up to Azle to buy this boat and trailer. The original intent was to make this a duck blind. Soon after the project began I realized it was way too small for my needs as an overnight blind. My wife also said she would rather just fix it up to use it as a normal pontoon. Eventually we wound up selling it for a good profit. End product With the proceeds from that sale I made an offer on a big 26 foot pontoon boat. It had no trailer and needed a motor and a lot of repairs. I bought it for $750 and they delivered it for a $100. I fixed up up and we kept it for our regular lake boat. We love it. So when I found the one we have now and got it with the trailer, poly floor and top end of the motor at $1300 I had to pop on that deal. I could sell the trailer for $1200 all day long, probably more if I took my time. Done deal. Besiddes that I recovered nearly $100 in aluminum scrap from scrapping the rails.

Guy is correct, Cody built one years ago, I think it was before he started guiding because I gave him hell on here for it. It was an awesome build though, he did a really good job on it.
I gave him a hard time because at the time there were a couple on lake X that people built and parked in very good duck spots and left them there all season tied up. At a lake that does not allow permanent blinds it is kind of a bad deal when guys would leave them out all season long and expect people to not hunt there. They did cause some problems, I do not think Cody had anything to do with the ones already out there though.

I can see where leaving a blind out, locking places up, would leave others to be ticked off. Especially ticked when it is a violation of law. I have way too much work in mine to have somebody set a torch to it. Mine will be coming home with me when I leave. In reality I will only get to use it a few times a year, if that. When I retire then it will be a daily use item if I haven't sold or traded it by then.

Sounds like a lot of fun the way you're going to use it. I think so too. I have my times when I get seriously ticked off at the ducks and I drive 14 hours north to shoot them. Other times like when my wife and I go shoot redheads at the coast I aint so mad at them. It is times like that I just set back and let her have fun.

Well those trips north should be great for you this year with all the new water up that way and that rig.

I have a spot picked out that no sane person would ever think about driving to hunt ducks. I usually have to float the decoys to get in there if it is not iced over. We hunt sitting in the tall grass.

Oh now I remember. You kill birds out of it? Never got the chance to put it in the water after brushing it. While brushing it I had a Cajun call and ask if it was for sale, I said it depends on the offer, 7500 bought it! Hell I don't even know if it floated LOL

It would be tough for me to sell mine simply because the reason I built it. It is for my wife first. It will also make it really easy for the wheelchair bound soldier hunts. We would be able to wheel them right into the boat and they can be perfectly comfortable.

Wal, have you posted any updated photos of the inside? I am smack in the middle of a lot of changes in my life that has really slowed down production. I have not completed the inside. I replaced all bearings, seals ect on the boat trailer. It came with bearing buddies. It took a month to find the right orings to rebuild the bearing buddies. Long story but I was given the wrong schematic twice and waiting for delivery of wrong parts tool a month. The other problem is we switched to 4 10 hour shifts. With a lunch thats 11 hours, drive to work an hour and the drive home an hour. That makes 13 hour days with an all nighter in between 2 of the 10s thrown in there as well is a killer. I am slap in the middle of the dog training circuit as well. So pretty much I wake up go to work and get home and go to sleep. I am not so sure how these 10 hour shifts are going to work out. The training season will be done mid September and maybe I will get some relief and get used to this schedule then. To finish the inside all I need to do is put in 4 swivel chair bases. I have the chairs that came with the boat in the barn. So that little project will be fast. Then set up the kitchen. The EPA illegal crapper is already finished. I am going with LED lighting inside so that aint hard. The last thing will be the coffee stand and heaters in between each hunter position. They can put their coffee and shells on a shared stand in between each hunter. I might use 4 old rubber boots cut from the ankle up off and screw the bottom part to the floor where each hunter's shotgun nbutt will slip down into the boot. Above that on the shooters rail will be a rubber grommet to grab the barrel and secure the gun in place. I should get the boat back from the shop at the end of the month. I can probably take a day off work to finish the rest before teal season. Come mid September I intend to be thunder dumping some teal birds out of that thing. I got a spot on a channel next to a flat picked out where I cut my teeth duck hunting. In the past we had some lights out 4 and 5 minute teal limits. Now I just need a kid to go along so I don't have to pick up the decoys
