I wondered early on why no adjustable AR15's were mentioned. I still can't understand why it's not the perfect rifle for a youngun.

You can probably start them on a regular gun and make it work. But most likely the gun will not fit them and they will pick up bad form. An AR lets you set it up to fit the child up a little better which will help prevent bad habits. I work with a guy that has done just that. His daughter can shoot but its mediocre. The last trip to the range I let her shoot my daughters rig and she was able to do much better as she made the gun fit her instead of trying to make her fit the gun.

Just think about it. If your not comfortable with a gun and how it fits you most likely you don't shoot to the best of your abilities.

Thanks everyone! I must of had a brain fart.LOL I already own an AR15. I guess I never thought about it due to the fact it is my plicker not "deer rifle". Now I can buy plenty of practice ammo with the $$ ya'll saved me. Any ammo suggestions?

My twelve year old daughter loves shooting our AR15. I have an adjustable gas block on it so there is very little recoil. Use the ammo your gun likes the best. Both of you will have fun figuring that out. Barnes TSX or Federal Fusion both work well for me.
