Had a game cam catch a black bear taking a splash-bath in one of our troughs a few weeks back.

I'd like to see that. You must hunt out west. I would help, but I haven't had Internet (or land line) here at the house since yesterday afternoon. I'm right across the highway from you, if you recall. Good ol' GVTC. If nobody volunteers, pm me your email and I'll see what I can do on this phone tomorrow.

Cool. There must be a lot more of those around than TPWD is letting on.

Yeah its out west in the hills north of Bracketville and Alamo Village. Thanks for the offer of help, but I managed to figure it out by trial and error. We need to meet at the Flagstop for lunch some day.

The pic is kinda dark so those trying to see it on a phone may see a blur. I got one other pic that is just a dark shape half cut off on the right, but you can make out the shape of the head and ear. I saw that one first and thought WTH? Then this pic was next. There was a 15 minute gap between pics so he was probably laying down in there under the camera angle. Chances are I caught him getting in and out. Tub is about a foot deep and about 5'x5'.

Negative - Kinney County. My LN is on the cam.

I spoke with the game warden and he seemed excited to hear about it and asked me to share the pics with him so he could pass them on to the wildlife biologist. No other reports out there for a good while. Last I know of was a deer hunter filming one near Brackett in 2008, but I believe that was further south in the flat country. Never heard of one up my way. It was quite a "Holey Crap" moment when I scrolled to that pic.

I bet when you are walking to your stand at 5a.m. and you here a twig snap you will get a whole new "pucker factor". LOL. I would be looking for a nice little .45 to go on my hip.

I'm talking a .45 cal with a 25 round cylinder. When a twig snaps near by, first 20 rounds are spraying the air. Also take Pampers.

Won't change my routine any. I always make sure I am with at least one guy I can outrun.

Seriously, we've had cougar on the place for years, so the pucker is unchanged. Scariest thing I've come across out there are people of the southern persuasion. Never know what you are dealing with.

My first thought was that it was smaller cuz of the perspective, but then My friend and I went and took some pics from the same place with a tape measure for the warden and wildlife biologist. He is 5.5 and stood in the same spot in the tub and the bear's shoulder is easily above 4' and it is hunched over some. Not an expert, but I'd imagine he's a pretty big guy.

It seemed to be just passing through my area since I only got the 2 pics and had 8 cams out in the general area. Warden's first question was if it did any damage, but all my stuff was unharmed. A friend just north of here had some cams out on his place, but has not been able to check them. There is a chance he got some pics too. It is far north Kinney County close to Edwards.

Hope you don't mind, I lightened up the photo a bit. That's pretty cool to have one around.
