This thread is still going? Don't y'all have something better to do? I'd suggest underwater basket weaving.

Coin flip. I do love my 06s, but I'd be just as happy with a .308.
+1 on the 180gr SBT. My favorite hunting/do all bullet in the 06 - Accurate enough to punch paper & ring steel, performs excellent on game, and cheap enough to plink with.

For your hunting needs I'd go with a .270 and save your shoulder. Just my Me too. My .270 (Sako Finnlight) shooting 130 grain Accubonds hits harder than my .308 (Nosler Legacy) shooting 165 grain Accubonds. I think the felt recoil on a .270 and .308 is so close that stock design and rifle weight will override any differences in caliber in determining which is softer shooting.
