Had a line of severe thunderstorms build up late yesterday afternoon and then move across from east to west. Moved in around 6:15 pm with very high winds, some hail and heavy rains. First pic is around 5 pm and notice the temp at 100. Little over an hour later. Three minutes later you can see some hail in the pic. Finally it was raining so hard and wind blowing and it looked like nighttime in a matter of 6 minutes. Temp was now 75. One more feeder view(time is off 1 hour) I have a 8'x30' front porch that is about 9' high. I had hail hitting the front door and windows with the high east winds. Rain also blew up under the porch and it was running down the inside of the front doors a bit. It was blowing in at the top of the front doors.

I spent the morning and early afternoon cutting up and moving downed tree limbs, then repairing the fence. Wind even blew a lid on an All Season Corn feeder that had spring latches on it. Rained on the corn, but I let it air dry in 96 degree temps. Most of the water ran out the funnel opening luckly.

Before you started fixin trees, fixin fence and such, did you put a good dip in and crack a cold one? Looks like a cow & a flat rock should be in those pics.

Don't dip and left the beer till later I leave that to Payne I have not seen rain that hard with wind that strong (for a solid 20-25 minutes) in quite a few years. I am sure not all the rain went into the gauges either. The one about 50' from the limb on the fence only had 1.53" in it. It has tall trees around with the biggest to the east, where the rain was moving in from. That gauge will have more rain 90% of the time than the one at the house.

We were coming in from offshore as that storm moved inland. It was quite a nice sight. Nothing fell in Port A. but I saw it rained pretty good up at Refugio.

Good Night...I've never had one of those All Season Lids blow off..That's some uplift I have had one American Hunter 2000 lb feeder lid blow off before in a similar storm in the mid 90's. It had 2 of metal truck style hood latches. Ripped it off and I never found the 4' diameter lid. This one straightened on of the ring hooks a bit then flipped over the top I guess and the other side finally gave away. That feeder was about 300-350 yards from that limb on the fence location. I am thinking it was a funnel cloud that never came down all the way to the ground. I was worried about my windmill which is between the feeder and fence. I had turned it on mid-afternoon yesterday when this built up and hit. I was expecting the fan to be blown apart or the pumping rod to be busted, but it was okay from what I could tell. Wind was really swirling at my house. The first set of feeder pics is in front of my house.

Same kind of storms hit here yesterday, where not huge, but they where mean. I was reading your thread thinking man I wish it would build up here. Well I checked the radar and thought I was dreaming with all the showers that had popped up in just a couple of hours.

I've only lost the lids to stands and a barn. Haven't had a feeder lid blow off before, that's a little more than a gentle breeze.

That gentle breeze twisted the top out of a mesquite tree and threw it about 90' across the fence into the neighbors. I am glad that tree top did not hit the 2 way corner posts. That would have been a mess. I am still thinking a funnel cloud with all the hail and lightening.

We always put big rocks on top of our feeders. It is not foolproof but works most of the time.

Cool pics! We got over 30" of rain in May. Tanks and lakes were full. Texoma still is, but all the other little tanks are drying up again. Wish we'd get a little more, now.
Mmmm Hmmm

Impressive pic's and glad you got some rain. I'm no weather girl, but that had to be more then just straight line winds. Wow.

We had that same storm come through Rockport. Heard a small funnel cloud when across Copano bay. It was strong winds and strong rain for about 20 minutes then gone.

Did your Windmill survive Amigo Yes it did. I had just turned it back on earlier that afternoon and expect it was not going to have done well in all that wind. It was only about 60-75 yards from all those blown down limbs. It made thru without any issues I believe, but there was no wind that morning and I turned it off.
