I think you will find regardless of the number of birds there access will be very limited to non existent.

I have access to around 800 acres up there, but didn't want to travel 6.5 hours just to look at jack rabbits. From the map it's all irrigated crop farms where I have permission to hunt.

Parmer county does indeed have wild pheasants. Just a five miles east of the Parmer county line between Easter and Dimmitt we flashed lots of wild pheasants, but that was nine years ago. I don't know what effect the long drought over the last three years had on the wild population. I have heard that with the recent spring and summer rains the pheasant and quail are bouncing back. I will add that if you are hunting around Thanksgiving only quail water fowl and rabbits are legal, pheasant season won't start until early Dec. 2015.

I also think pheasant would be your best bet that area but like Coldwind said seasons don't match your travel dates. While 800 acres is pretty good access it is small in the scheme of things for waterfowl. There are lots of geese and also sandhill cranes which winter around here but they may never drop in on your land. If you have permanent access to it might be worth checking out or a long trip.

I hunt that area often. There are virtually no quail around that area. There are some pheasants, but as mentioned above, they will be out of season. Sandhill cranes are plentiful in the area, but unless you know a lot of people, it will be slim pickins as far as land goes. It seems like no matter how much permission you have out there, 10,000 cranes pack in on the 80 acres you can't get on.

Me moved the dates back a weekend so hopefully it will work out, worst case scenario, dogs get tons of exercise and I end up harvesting a deer. Thanks for all the info folks....
