True story. The buck did have a mark on the top of the back by the rump. The bullet shaved the hair off and must of tapped the spine. I know a guide that said the same thing happened to one of his clients. They grazed a bucks antlers with a high powered rifle and the buck fell over dead. He said there wasn't even a notch in the antlers, just a burn mark. Its called getting paralyzed. I knew a guy that fell off a ten foot ladder and landed on his butt and died instantly. up And I was making a joke about the heart attack to him.

I think I'll just take a seat between Noggy & Fireman and enjoy this show.. Anyone want anything from the snack bar before I sit down?

I'm trying to decide between my .300 WM and my usual .338 WM for my Alaska grizzly hunt next month. I normally would go with the .338, but the extra "blow-down" ability of the .300 makes it more intriguing.

REALKILLER has some tales, I'll give him that. smile

Dave, will be interested to see what you decide. When I go after the big bear, I am almost certainly taking my .338. But if for some reason I had to take the .300 WM I would not feel the least bit undergunned-especially with today's great selection of high quality bullets.

I'm pretty sure that I'll be taking the .300WM and 200 gr Nosler Partitions this go-round. Velocity is 2970 fps. I've shot a muskox and a couple caribou with this combo, so I think it will work.

My previous grizzly was taken with the .338 and 250 gr Partitions, as were a brown bear and a black bear. Another black was taken with the 210 pt from the same gun. Another brown bear fell to my .375 H&H and the 300 gr pt. Truthfully, I could tell little difference in performance from any of the kills.

I expect to hear any day from Arizona re my 43B sheep application..... Fingers crossed.

Go to church, give 10% of your income, and ask God to forgive you of your sins, especially lies. And please stop sucking all of the intelligence out of a conversation.

Are you sure you weren't just tired and sleeping from running those deer down and the shot just woke you up? smile

I'm trying to make sense of this rambling.

The coyote baited up by an apple is interesting but I'm not sure where to go with it. smile
