A neighbor is looking for a nice NIB Beretta or Browning O/U probably in a 20 guage, that he can lay hands on before shelling out the dinero's, and within couple hours tops of Pottsboro.

I 've already suggested the usual suspects I remember from Dallas in Ray's & McClellands, and the place in Higland Park Vlg, and tried to send him to El Reno and Enid but those are too far for him. Has a brother in Austin, and will hit McBrides next time down as he's scored some nice stuff there in the past....got a killer deal on a Zeiss Diavari as I recall.
Ron

Anybody got any other ideas??

The Allen Cabela's fine gun room has some toys similar to what you describe. Possibly the Bass Pro Shops in Garland and Grapevine. Also, Ray's Hardware has some nice stuff upon occasion. It might be worth giving them a call.

If he just wants to get a feel for them, he can go to a big box store. Has he tried Gander Mountain in Sherman? The one in Lewisville has a few "B" guns. If he is coming south, he might want to try Cabelas in Allen.

Thx guys..he's aware of the Cabella's in Allen & shops it several times a month, BPS has these price point guns??'s...really? He knows about Ray's just never been there....what else is out there in FoatWuth and elsewhere within 2 hours of Pottsboro.

We talked this morning about going to Tulsa for the Big Show...and I was gonna call Carters and see if my old contacts at the warehouse buying office on Treschwig were still there, or try Geno in El Reno & meebe S'West Shooters on Linwood in OKC if they're still open... Dale Cain was always one of the good guys to go to in this product category back in my day. Hope Suzy or Hal was able to keep the store going all these years later.

So the ?? remains...where to spend couple K's on a nice O/U these days that you can feel and fondle before you make a commitment to marry it ??? I've been outta the game for too long to know for sure anymore.

He's already ordered a CZ Redhead for a field gun...this'uns gonna be tha Sunday Go To Meetin' shooter.

FWIW Both he & I are off GMtn in Sherman...I spent 45 minutes trying to get waited on in there earlier this month while the clerk spent over an hour, according to the guy in front of me, selling a gun to a customer...and 4 people walked out meantime for lack of service. The store in Sherman was empty enough of both staff and customers, we could've shot skeet from the gun counter while we waited and not hit nobody.

Thank you for that. Alpine is a doable trip on the way to Austin...

What about the guy out on the West Frwy, just past the boat dealer? Been forever since I've been in the store. I sold to the original owner Ewell Cross for years, what nice gentleman he was too.

Best part of this deal is that I get to WATCH and fondle the high end goodies without having a chance of getting MY Credit Card dinged smile

That would most likely be Elk Castle. They usually have a pretty good selection but my experience has been lousy manners by the staff.
