I have won a tikka 308 and I do not need another 308 in the safe. Would you re barrel and customize it a bit? If so who would you get to do the work?
Or would you trade for a different caliber that You want? Suggestions?

What caliber are you wanting?

Rebarrell is going to cost a bit but if you are ready for a project I can't think of a better platform. I bought a new LH tikka 308 for the sole purpose of building off the action. I got a bit carried away and wound up tripling my budget but I'm happy with the decision.

Do you have a caliber in mind? Hunting rifle or dual purpose long range rig?

Lots of options to rebarrel it to the rest of the 308 case family, 22-243, 243, 25Super, 260, 7mm-08, 338 Federal or 358 Win then straying away to creedmoors 22, 6mm, or 6.5 to name a few. All depends on what you want or need in the collection.

As for who to do the work, Scott Weichel will be getting any that I have done.

Perfect platform for a 26" barrled 280 AI build... or a 338'06, and some sort of a custom stock.

This Freebie needs to become something out of the ordinary IMO. Onlyiest restriction I'd have would be my wallet and my imagination on how to use the .473 bolt face.

Money aside, for a LR rifle I'd also look at swapping it for a .532 bolt face and chase the new 6.5 round being developed by Pat Sinclair, aka "Scenar Shooter" on 24HCF, in Montana on 7mm SAUM case's with factory brass headstamped 6.5 GAP coming from Hornady sometime this fall....supposedly. Might as well, since RemmyCompactMag's are becoming a dead program...and a good use for the slightly smaller capacity of the SAUM case vs the WSM's, just like the more and more successful CreedMore case Vs a RP 260's ='s potentially lots more TM* Royalty bux from Hornady for Remington.

Some of the highlights my tired brain remembers of the "260 gets a Boost" thread describing a 6.5 GAP being tossed around on the 'fire right now, with pic's, are...JLK 140's up to 3250fps out of a 26" Bartlien MTU from a GAP Crusader action, proven good out to 1800 yards from different guns and shooters, sub MOA's common and brass good for up to 20 firings...and more info to come I'm sure. Sounds like the 6.5 GAP could be the next Best, greatest thing since sliced bread use for rehabbing or better still repurposing M70 SA WSMag recievers like mine too.
