I'm a retired male living in Wisconsin and want to do a wild hog hunt in Texas. Are there any areas in the Lake of The Pines, Avinger area that are open to the public or are there any guides in that area that would cater to one individual? I would like to do my hunt the week of the 10th of September. I wouldn't need room or board. Also, what are the requirements for license.
Thank You.

welcome ta THF.. You looking for public land hog hunt ? If had the money would hit uncle Sam Huston NF.... Rumor has it Squash or Bigfoot is killing all the hogs there.. It's got 162,984acres so chances for sightings is slim... They have rifle hunts.. OSBWMA is in Piney woods area, but Sept. is archery, unless Draw hunt, would give ya invite, hunt it alot in past, its good ta go for hogs, but can get your feet wet, bottom land... Live just down the road.. They have rifle hog hunts Jan.-March.. Theirs few others.. Each is regulated different.. Ya would need out of state licence, & permit for public land, not sure of details... Best wishes, Think you'll enjoy it... flag

Just passed a place out side Texarkana on 30 west bound advertising hog hunts. It's high fence. I'll get the name and number next time I'm that way if interested. Something Meadows ranch I think.

It ain't easy being me.

go online the the texas parks and wildlife website and look for the annual public hunt book. they may or may not have the current one posted already for this coming season, but mostly its only the public dove places that change with much frequency. the WMAs and other larger areas where hog hunting is allowed will mostly be the same. it will give you a map location for all of them. just have to see whats closest to you.

You'll be in the Linden, Marshall, Dangerfield, Gilmer, Jefferson & Longview areas. That'll give you a frame of reference.

If you want to go it on your own, there is always Lake O the Pines itself.

And there are quite a few marina cabins, lodges, vacation rentals on that lake.
