I don't even remember what county we were. I really messed up by not taking my on truck. He was an exterminator who was a friend of a friend. I got invited. They needed bird dogs. It was a disaster. The first night they went out headlighting. I stuck by the campfire.
There was a cook the next morning. It went down from there. It was all rocks and hills. We eventually found one covey. It was a two night stay. I wished that I had stayed at home.
Any invites that you wished you had not taken?

Bill, you should ask this in the general hunting discussion

Only once. The short story is a one armed drunk, that wanted to show everyone how fast he could draw his loaded pistol from his shoulder holster.
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

it's always a gamble to hunt with strangers or someone you never hunted with as far as I am concerned. I much prefer to hunt alone

I've had a few leases that simply did not work our. We killed 2 quail on my last lease. Anyone would have taken it by looing at it from the highway.

I had an Oxygen/Acetylene/welding vendor invite me and one of my managers down to Hebbronville to WT hunt for a weekend. "Bunkhouse" was a small portable office building with bunks in it. I got the top bunk that was 8" from the a/c window unit. Miserable night. Supper was at the owner (of the ranch and the vendor business)house. He acted like a big shot and we should be so thankful we were invited. The master bedroom had a huge blown up photo of a WT buck mounting a doe in it. Some people have weird tastes in bedroom "art". I think I saw 1 coyote and some javelina.
The last lease I was on had so many border patrol, game wardens, and other folks off of other ranches driving by within feet of my travel trailer that I thought I was camping on the median of IH10.
