What's your powder of choice for the 6.5CM pushing 130 or 140's?

H4350. Some people use RL17 with good luck too. Another good option is IMR4451.

H4350 is about ideal. R17 will get more speeds, but is very temp sensitive. The new IMR 4451 is a great new powder that mimics H4350 burn rate. I have played with it a little bit, and will be switching over to this one in a lot of my ammo.

I have some on hand, this will be for my two sons 11 and 9. I'll get a few down range and see how much recoil it has, hoping not much but if its jumpy I'm going to break it so my boys can easily handle it.

The recoil is very nice overall. Mine has a little jump to it but not bad. Mine takes h4350 also shorting 130's

If you run a 140 gr bullet, it will shoot 42.0 gr give or take .6 gr either way.

If worried about recoil, try the Nosler 100 gr Ballistic Tip in the rifle. Works fine on paper, coyotes, pigs and deer and has even less recoil than the 130's or 140's. I push it with IMR 4064.

Staying with at least a 130, if the recoil is to much I'll get a break installed. I want the efficiency and power down range, my older son will be shooting out to 500 and I want as much BC as possible mainly to cut wind.

I started out loading 140 gr Amax over 42.6 get of H 4350 based on Chad and Firemans advice. I am very happy I did, the round is accurate and I am getting solid speed out of my 20" barrel.
The recoil on mine is nothing, my lady friend shoots my rifle just fine.

Another thought to reduce recoil, is to switch to a faster burning powder and reduce the load some. When I ran my 260 Rem in competition, I had a reduced load with H4895 powder that was about 400 fps slower than my full power load. I did this for the barrel burner stages when you are putting about 15-20 rounds down your barrel in about 2 minutes time. The lower powder charge keeps the barrel cooler and does not wear out the throat as fast and prolongs barrel life. But if you want full speed, then recoil will go up. A brake is great, but louder.

Just a well break it, they both use ear protection when they shoot anyway.

How much would it cost for a suppressor, I can cut the threads on the barrel and install it just need the suppressor.

Looks like top of the line, so far I have $2000 invested in the scope and gun. $1500 for scope (NF) and $500 in gun (savage) and another $1200 is kind of getting steep for a 500 yd gun. I'm not that educated in suppressors, is there a middle of the road suppressor that would work?

Most common answer will be the harvester. Plus trust set up, plus $200

Need a level 3 FFL, and some paper work. If I suppress a gun I don't think a $500 savage will be the one. Kind of side tracked me to getting one for my 300WM or 7mag. How long does it take once the paper work is submitted? Just wondering how far the suppressor is recessed on the barrel, reason I ask is the two guns I'm considering to suppress have 26'' barrels and one has a break.
