I was digging around in some stuff that I inherited. I saw the old press. It has one shellholder and is for a 38spl. I was told that I needed a J to X adaptor for it to use RCBS and other shellholders. So, I started looking on the web for an adapter. I found one and bought it. It doesn't fit. Anybody know anything about these? Evidently there were a lot of different models. This thing is a tank.

You might give Lyman a call. I have a Herter I was given, It came with 3 rams. 2 are made for a certain case head and require no shell holder. The 3rd ram requires a standard shell holder. I compared this 3rd ram to a Lyman Spar T turrent press and they are the same. Might be able to get a ram from Lyman or look on ebay.

Thanks James. I tried looking it up on the lYMAN site but that wasn't real rewarding. Evidently there are several different types. I'll call them.

I have one of those old Tanks, could melt it down and make 3 or 4 rockchuckers from the steel in it. Got mine from an estate sale years ago and it had an adapter with it to go from the 38 size on the top of the ram to use standard shell holders. Will dig it out tomorrow and see if I can find any numbers on the adapter.
