I have been thinking about a duck boat so I can hunt the lake across the road from the farm. Never have killed more than a couple ducks per hunt at the farm and figure the lake might bring more possibilities.
My biggest question is about setup. My understanding is the lake just has a 600 yard from houses rules but wasn't sure about just kayaking to a spot on the lake and using a layout or buying a flat bottom with a blind and setting up from the boat.

I would not mess with trying to set up from the boat. Just use the boat to get to your spot, hide it, and set up in cover... I like to use $6 dove stool at Academy, cut the pouch off so it does not hold water, drill a few holes in the bottom rail so water drains out. You can also use the stool for a layout blind..

I'm with Guy...I have a boat and my stool is much more useful.
