Anybody ever run an electric fence around their plots and does it bother the deer? Have cows to deal with on a particular property and looking for suggestions.

I have used electric fence to keep deer out of food plots till I was ready to let them start grazing but those were 5 wire or one that was 2 seperate fences about 24"-30" apart for depth perception. I would think that a 2 wire setup with bottom wire at 21" + or - and top wire around 40" would work. Those heights would allow deer to go under or over with ease.

Almost the same here. I flag the line so it is visible. My cows would avoid a flagged fence even if it wasn't hot after few zaps.

Never seen deer that where too perturbed by an electric fence, like STX said, I kept my bottom line kind of high for a deer ,but good for cattle.

If you have pig's you need to get it high so they don't tear it down. Also young deer can walk under the wire with no problem. I just put scrap pvc pipe on the T post with wire on the pvc @ 6 and 7 feet. When I wanted the deer in I would just take the top 2 wires down. I did flag it so every one, thing would see the wire. It work great until someone wanted it more than me.

Deer tore it up. We rebuilt more times than I care to discuss. It was just too much work for too little good it did. Funny story. We had the whole thing done, flagged, everything and were making the final hook up at the control box. About fifty yards away, a spike buck walks out of the brush, never skips a beat, walking straight towards the plot, never stopped, just casually jumped over the top wire and proceeds to walk across the plot and jumps the other side into the brush. The five of us standing around just stared at each other after hours and hours of hard work setting up. Ever seen a 5 year old, 11pt with wire and orange ribbon hanging off his antlers? After that summer, we gave up warm season food plots. Too many deer and rainfall too much the deciding factor.

Yes they work, but you've got to be able to check on it regularly.
If there's a break or you lose your power, the cows will be in it and your plot will be stubble.
