I'm gonna build a pen to keep javelin, and goats out. I was wondering if anyone knows what height of panels will keep goats and sheep out? It's in val verde co. And there are bands of wild goats and sheep that roll through. I'm sure others in the area have run into this problem. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

With goats it will be difficult and a lot will depend on what type of goat also. I would start with 48" 4"x4" panels or 50" cattle panels then cut down a section here and there(4" or 6" or 8" or 12") to allow deer an easier spot to jump in that is lower. Only problem with the cattle panels is they will have a larger square that will allow goats to get their head stuck in it.

With STX's advice I went with 34" hog panels to keep sheep out and it's work perfectly so far. Not sure about the goats though.

goats? Lol

We had goats, pigs, sheep, horses, and cattle when I was a kid. The goats were a nightmare.
The goats were always getting out. Our fence was a combination of square holed rolled fence at the bottom about 36" high and two strands of barbed wire above that. The goats would climb over the rolled fence and under the barbed wire. We had to build big "H" shaped contraptions out of galvanized conduit to go around the necks of the ringleaders and even that did not stop them. There was a church across the street always calling because the goats were in the graveyard or eating all the roses.

We had one billy goat who somehow got a rear leg stuck in the top of a 6' high chain length fence around the feeding pen. My uncle was so pissed he went out there with a hacksaw and cut it's hoof off so it couldn't jump as high anymore.

Good Luck.

I think anything that a deer could get over a goat will too. I'd hunt the goats.

Cabrito.

Yeah, I would take hogs over goats any day. For the simple fact that goats climb and jump.
