The only way to come full circle is to travel the entire circle. I wouldn't own another mud motor for all the tea in China. I have had them since they came on the US scene from longtails to Mud Buddy ect. I was always chasing that "If I just had that" like a dog chasing his tail. I think the combo he picked out was well thought out. That boat may not run mud, but who cares. Don't run mud. FRom the size motor he got he might hit speeds upwards 40, maybe 45 or 50. On a flat day when you're going 25 30 miles, that matters. Loaded heavy with a mud motor going 30 miles sucks. I did it for years and I won't ever do it again. I would rather watch paint dry than to stand at the tiller of another mud motor.

Yall may not know this. I used to smoke Marlboro reds. I used to get so board on those 1 and 2 hour long trips in my longtail at 8 miles per freakin hour. In the dark I could see the muffler glowing red because I had it full throttle. I used to break the bordom by lighting my marlboros on the muffler. Yeah! It is boring standing at a tiller at 8 miles per hour, staring at a GPS and out into the dark.

Ol Yeller got himself one heck of a boat.

Well, to start out I spilled BM on the console, so that is broke in.Told my wife to take a good look at the boat 'cause at the end of duck season it will be trashed!
I can tell you @ idle speed you can't hardly hear it running, had to keep it under 2k for break in, but even at that it is extremely responsive.
Fiddled w/the jack plate and motor trim and don't have a problem in a foot of water. I think she'll go pretty skinny.
No pull rope and no tiller! Being left handed, I started every hunt w/a frozen left hand...no mas!
Fixin to call Brenda and line up a condo and test Guy's theory. I love this boat!

I rode a hell of a lot of stumps in my heavy fishing days with an outboard. People overestimate the problem of hitting stumps and underestimate the ability of an outboard to get shallow. Not saying mud motors don't have a time and place, sure they do, they just aren't as necessary as a lot of duck hunters make them out to be. If they were, shallow water sight fishing guides would only have mud motors on their poling boats.
