As the title states I am looking for someone local to restore the old Schrade 171UH knife (primarily the blade) to the good condition, please let me know.

Can it also be blued (or something like that) to protect carbon steel from rusting?
I just want to find someone who will make this knife shine.

BTW: Hetman is a political title, historically assigned to military commanders. In Ukraine Hetman was a head of the Cossack state :-)

If that is just patina (discoloration) it wouldn't be too hard to clean up but if it's pitted it's gonna take a LOT of time and effort to make it shine.

You can remove the tarnish with Simichrome. That's one of the "features" of a high carbon steel blade. And, it doesn't hurt anything.

However, to get the pitting involves removing metal. I wouldn't do that. But, it's your knife and not mine.

You have a good knife just like it is. Just remember to wash and hand dry it after each use.

I wouldn't touch it. The patina gives it history.

Here's my old knife, I left it as I found it.
