The pup is doing great. He is going to be my daughter, and son inlaws new duck dog.
I took him for a vet check the day I picked him up, and other than a little puppy dermatitis (easily taken care of) he passed with flying colors.
I kept him with me the first 2 weeks, to start him out right.
When he went to their house he was crate trained, 80-90% potty trained. Gives to the lead, and will sit to be leashed, and unleashed. Also sits before food is set down for him to eat. Took him to the creek for water intro, and he was leaping off the banks into the water. He didn't need any encouragement, and was swimming like a fish.
I think he is going to workout as a hunter. He has drive to retrieve, and goes crazy over the smell of ducks. I'm having them take it easy on obedience, and Drake Sporting dogs will start his training when its time. Hoping he will be ready for some easy, low pressure hunts mid season.

Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden.
Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.
