My Brittany and I got some work in a few days ago. Its starting to warm up out there and our trips to the water trough are increasing in frequency. Anybody ever have any issues with heat exhaustion?

Welcome to the forum. I've been to some NSTRA trials when the temperature reached well into the nineties, and we did exactly what you're doing. The dogs learned where the water barrels were in a hurry. I'm not working birds this summer but I take my two around the subdivision for a 15 minute run. My pointer knows the way to the pond. She comes in wet each morning.

Starting to get warm? It's been "warm".

We live in TEXAS! In my book, "warm" starts a 90 and "hot" starts at 100. But to each their own.

And 90% humidity.

I have to stick to early morning hours to train unless we are doing water work.

Now that looks like a good way to pass the time!

Thanks for the kind words. Moose was flattered.

Good looking Britt. I just shaved all seven of mine Sunday. Should have done it a few weeks ago but have had other things going on. I love how they look with a fresh cut. And you can tell they appreciated it.

How long does it take to shear all 7? I thought doing 1 was a chore.

Wife helped. Took us a little less than 30 minutes a dog (about 3 hrs). I set a shop fan blowing at us to keep the hair blown away and put a new ceramic blade on my shears and bought a can of that cool spray stuff for the shears to keep them from overheating. Would have cost $50 x7 to have it done so I say it was worth it. I just sat them up on the back end of my trailer, it's the perfect height. A good set of shears is a must with all these dogs.

Yep all of them are less than 6" from their box fans right now.
