Another month and everyone should start having sales on shotgun ammo. Any one have a reason to wait for Walmart, Academy, Cabelas?? That is, does one usually have better case prices than the others? I am only going to buy lead shot. Will probably buy 10-12 cases.

I looked at WalMart his weekend and they had ZERO case size boxes and only one type of 100 round package......so sale or not I'm not sure when to look....and you and I likely use the same WalMart from time to time.
Pass the gravy.

The best deal right now is the 100 rd pack at Wallyworld but Academy and Cabelas should step up soon with the sales.

I've noticed in recent years Cabelas starts running sales on shotshells by the case starting in early or mid August. Mostly Rio, PMC and Estate is what I've seen.

Didn't seem like the Academy near me ever had a sale on the Rio's last year.

Dicks usually has good prices on Rio's, when available....the Elm Fork people tend to buy them all and then re-sell them at $3-4 higher.

Seems like I always pick up shells from Cabelas in August, most of the time it's RIO, 2 years ago I picked up a case of Win. heavy dove. They offered at the same price.

I usually look online and find someone with free shipping. Midway does this a lot and they don't charge tax for Texas orders.

Dang, if that is true it might be worth buying. Monarch's rifle and pistol ammo is crap so I avoided their shotgun ammo like the plague!

I just shot 2 flats of Monarch 7 1/2, 1 oz, 1350 fps. I liked it really well and I don't normally like the fast stuff. Usually stick to 1200-1280 fps. It wasn't any dirtier or cleaner that any others I shoot and it all went bang.

Saw at WM last night that they have Federal 12g 1-1/8oz 8shot for $4.94 a box. I know a lot of you guys like to shoot the high dollar stuff (cause it makes you shoot better)but that may be one of the best deals we regular folk see this year. I don't mind shooting Federals, especially at that price. I also bought some Monarchs at Academy the other day and was curious as to how they shoot, glad to see the above post.

Nothing wrong with those Federals, same load as the brown 100 packs at WM.
It's the Indian not the arrow.
Also, I was at Bass Pro on Friday. Counter guy said in previous years their ammo sale was early August, he said this year 2nd half of August.

WM today have Federal 12g 1-1/8oz 7.5 shot for $4.94 a box
I also saw Win AA @ 7.57/box and 7.87/box for what appeared to be the same loads (same drew, shot size & weight, same velocity, same shell length and gauge)... cases were 78.70... go figure

Walmart often prices quantities at a higher unit price because they know most people don't do the math yet assume bulk is cheaper. It's the same reason they often do not have a price per ounce on food like a real grocery store. Anyway...that Federal price is pretty good.
Pass the gravy.

I don't think we're going to beat $4.94

I think your right, won't beat 4.94, not for the 1 1/8 oz anyway....Now if MoJo's would just go down, as far as I've seen they have been holdin steady at 29.95. Gotta buy me a new one after my old faithful broke last yr when my home made tree fell over b/c of the hard ground.
