Need to buy a rifle and scope for Jasons next Long Range Match. Thinking of a beater .6mm, .243 old M700 or M70. maybe a Mossberg,
is this a pretty good show? haven't been for years.
Thanks

My opinion........no its not that great of a show. Use to be years ago but not anymore. All you have to do is find one good deal and it could be worth your trip though.

It's indoor with ac and its July.
There will be 2 or less good scope dealers but you will probably be able to find a pos moss erg or something with a crapputrigger.
Make sure you wear camo and an empty holster

Make sure you wear camo and an empty holster ....or more commonly seen at shows these days.... - Combat boots
- White socks
- "Tactical" shorts
- T shirt
- Leather vest
- Straw hat
- Chained wallet
Pass the gravy.

Better chance of finding a good value on a rifle at Academy or Dick's IMHO. Very few "deals" to be had at gun shows anymore.

Yeah but supplies are sometimes found even at OK prices. At Lewisville a couple weeks ago I got: - 1000 55 gr FMJBT .224" bullets
- 1000 CCI small rifle primers
- one pound W748
- one pound H335
All for $152. That's not bad considering there's no where local for me to get any of it and shipping primers and powder usually isn't worth it.
Pass the gravy.

It totally sucked...It's bad when you go into a show with money in your pocket and find absolutely nothing (well I did get 2 boxes of .357...whoopee).

What was the per round cost of the .357 after fuel and admission?
Sorry if that's too personal a question.
It would have cost me $90 in gas plus at least $8 to get in....and I don't need store bought .357. Seems like shows have gone lookie....meaning no one buys because the prices are so high yet people still come so the door rate is high to offset the vendor fees no one wants to increase because - - - they're not selling anything because of high prices.
Viscous cycle!
Pass the gravy.

GasGuzzler don't even ruin my day with that computation Was $22 a box of $50 not counting the aforementioned items I go to that show because it often is a good one for me. I recently have bought a NIB C7 configuration AR15 for under $500 and a new CMMG MK9 9mm AR for $800 at that show. But nothing today.

It was a OK show for us, I sold 2 guns under cost just to get them gone. I looked a 20+ guns that the public brought in "for sale" All of them were asking more than new price! But I did score some "good" cheap rifle scopes for some 22 rifles, from another dealer. I have hung out at the Big Town show since the 1980s, NO it don't have the soul the old show had. Could be that there is a show every month at that building, and some time back to back shows in Mesquite alone. I live in Mesquite, but I have more fun, in the smaller out of town shows. Canton, Texarkana, Corsicana, and next week in Cleburne.

I enjoy them all. Whether or not I but a single thing. Most of the time it's a day away from the house with my wife. There is always that chance you will find that diamond in the ruff. I have found many over the years.
