What broadheads do yall shoot? I have shot muzzy and rage 2 blade. I am looking for something that has a blood trail of a rage or a G5 and has the penetration of a muzzy. In case I accidentally hit a shoulder I need that penetration to make up for it. That happened to me last year with rage. Deer didn't die arrow didn't go all of the way through. Do yall have any suggestions?

I shoot G5 Montecs but there are times the blood trails, on a clearly lethal shot, can be spotty. That said the guys at the lease have been getting great blood trails with some mechanicals. I tried one on the last day of season an lost a deer. So I'm sticking with my Montecs.

I shot Trophy Taker Shuttle T-Lock fixed broadheads for several years. I liked them because they are small, compact and got the job done for any game I shot, be it deer, hog, etc. I was having a hard time last year gettjng some replacement T-Locks, so I temporarily switched over to G5 Montecs last season. After shooting them awhile, I came to like them too. Now I'm having a hard time deciding which one to use to shoot this season...the T-Locks or the Montecs. In any case, that's the two I would recommend.

Grim Reaper mechanicals for me. I've shot montecs and hellrazor fixed but still prefer the Reapers.

What has worked for you?
I have been using Muzzy's for years. I did buy the Rage when they first came out, shot one thru my target and then measured the cut on impact. The Rage were saying a 2 inch cut on impact. I got a 1 1/4 cut on impact and never shot them again.
But, if you put a Muzzy or any other sharp broadhead in the right spot, they will die.

Steel Force Phathead. Just a big solid chunk of sharp steel.

I've shot both but the blood trail even with a well placed Muzzy or G-5 can make for a very time consuming tracking job. I have been really impressed with the Grim Reapers. I did hit a shoulder last year with one and the Reaper blew through it opened up and lodged in the off shoulder. Deer went about 40 yds. The BH was ruined but I am fine with that.

G5 Montecs. I like them because where I hunt sometimes a nice hog will come in on a deer hunt. They are really good on hogs and of course work just fine on deer. Just a very versatile broadhead.

Outdoor Life magazine just had a comparison article on broadheads was a pretty good way to kill some time on a plane. The G5 Montecs were ranked well but the best rated one was the QAD Exodus EC.

I shoot Muzzt Trocars and have meen happy w them.
