As most of you know I'm tried and true gas gunner, but.... I broke down and bought me a bolt action rifle. Was looking through buds a couple weeks back and saw the Savage 10FCP-SR rifle I had been looking for. Was a brand new listing, they didn't even have a picture up yet. I checked the UPC code with the Savage site just to confirm it was the one I wanted and made my order. $650 shipped + $15 transfer fee with a $100 rebate from from Savage..... Sign me up!! Well bought it, shipping was kind of slow from Buds, thank goodness I was in Vegas so the wait flew by.. Next day after back from vacation I sat and watched the UPS tracking number until it finally said delivered... Didn't wait for the call I went strait to my gun store to get my new toy. They hadn't even taken it out of the UPS shipping box yet and I was filling out my paperwork to take possession of the rifle. I gave it a good once over before taking it home with me. Had already ordered a SKD Tactical "PIG" stock pack and Triad Tactical sling for the rifle. I also had a Harris bipod and SWFA 12x scope. Mounted the scope up with some SWFA low rings and put one of their bubble levels on the scope as well. Well finally got out to the range this last Monday since I was off work for the 4th. Finally got behind the rifle to sight this baby in... Bang not on paper, didn't see where it went. Bang still not on paper but could hear the wallop of the round hitting the berm. Pull the bolt out and bore sighted the rifle. Boom on paper, but way way way low completely on a different target. I then remember that when I had this sighted in on my 308 gas gun it was in a 20MOA mount. So I needed to raise it way up. I measure how many MILs I should come up and dial it in.. Boom, no wear to be seen.. Frustrated as hell and wanting to let the barrel cool down a bit, I trek up to Jason's shop where he was diligently working on trying not to stab his oil filter trying to get leverage since he left his tools at work and drained his oil before making sure. That was comical . I sat and watched Jason for a good 30 minutes before we were going to trek back to my gun to see wth I was doing wrong.. He says, "lets take the Ranger". He comes spitting and sputtering around the corner and I hop on... LOL we went probably 1-2 MPH the entire time, something wrong with your Ranger sir.. Anyway huge long story short Jason gets behind the gun and can right off tell what I suspected the scope even though my levels at home said they were level, weren't really level. Guess maybe I need to check my house because I'm probably walking sideway in it LOL. So he hops back on his range and goes gets tools and takes all my work apart and re-levels the scope and blah blah blah. Boom 3 shots and he is in the bullseye.. He then proceeds to take it out to 700 by guessing on the dope for the 308. He missed a few times, but I'd say he did a bang up job considering he was just guessing. We couldn't judge the wind at 800.. Well let me rephrase that I couldn't judge the wind at 800 so he hopped on his scope to spot for me while I shot at 800. Took about 5 tries, but I finally got impact with Jason calling wind for me. So after all that Jason hopped back on his Ranger and was gone. I only have about 10 shots left, so I took it from 200 out to 500 before running out of supersonic ammo. By the way did I say the wind was whipping at about 20-25 MPH that day, crazy wind. All out of super sonic ammo I started to shoot some subsonics at the steel targets at 200. From my 200 yard dope there is 8 MILs of drop between the super and subs. Out of a bolt gun subs are stupid quiet compared to the gas gun. I really want to ear hole a hog with one and see if his buddies even notice.. Anyway yea pretty awesome time. Really liking the bolt gun so far. Savage 10FCP-SR 20" Fluted Threaded Barrel Savage Accustock Savage Accutrigger 10RND DBM SKD Tactical stock pack Triad Tactical sling Harris 6-9" Bipod YHM Phantom QD 30 SWFA 12x

How far did you stretch the 1911? Did some drills with it and the carbine from 25 yards and in. Accurate as hell while walking forward firing about once every second. She is a keeper, just wish it had a rail now for a light LOL.

Nice shooting and nice Scabage K! Did you find yourself pulling the trigger several times consecutively wondering why it was not autoloading?
I was wrong...on anything technical. Fitz............. is right, ya know............

Congrats on the new Sticks KRoyal
Fireman, didn't the 6.5 Creedmoor of yours start off as a 308, then molt into a 260 before transitioning into a the Creedmoor. IIRC you have some 308 data still floating around in the memory bank so wouldn't that be an educated estimation

I still have something to build from on a new to me .308 though.

yep, that's a good shooting rifle.. my brother has one. Get a bunch of 178g AMAX and you have ammo that will work on LR steel or game.
