I have a .300 Win. Mag. that gets me in the eye from time to time so I bought another scope for it -- one that has more eye relief. So the plan is to move the scope forward some but the problem is that the current scope is as far forward as the rings will allow. I haven't check the new scope coming to me yet, but I suspect it will sit in the rings about the same.

So, I guess I'm going to have to buy new rings and mounts but I need a brand that allows me to move the rings around on the base (or bases). Does anyone know of a brand of base and rings that allows for this, something like a pickatinny base maybe?

There are a few thoughts here...

One you can put a base and rings like you thought. I like larue bases and seeking rings. But there any many great makers of those pieces

You could get a DNZ one piece mount and that may work

The other thought is why is the gun jumping so much. You may consider a brake or adjustments to how you hold to not let the gun jump as much.

What is the new scope?

One piece picatinny rail.

EGW makes good onea at a good price.

Badger and Talley rings have treated me well. Lots of guys recommend Seekins

What FiremanJG said. Get a picantinny rail and a good set of rings and you may even be able to use your old scope. Funny thing is I had just the opposite problem on a SA model 700 22/250 BDL. I had a Leupold 4x12 in Leupold base and rings. The gun was extremely accurate but I was never comfortable because the eye relief was a little long. Did the picantinny, problem solved. Good Luck.

Blessings,

Jim

The old scope is a Bushnell, which I've learned is a brand with not much eye relief. It was recommended I buy, and I did buy, a Leupold, for its greater eye relief. I will just move the Bushnell to a .270 I just purchased.

I'll take a look at the EGW base and the Badger, Talley, and Seekins rings. I assume since they were recommended they will all fit the EGW base.
