Just curious what others do during the off season to pass the time?
It usually around this time of year I start getting the itch bad. When hunting season ends I typically just get all depressed. It takes a couple weeks and I start to shift my focus to fishing and everything I put off during hunting season. But about July every year I start getting the itch. This year seeing TPWD post most of the season dates kinda brought it on.
This year I have started focusing on a hunting log and finding some buddies to share info with. A hunting log is something I have always said I was going to do but just never have been very dedicated.

I just patiently wait to go check cameras. Not a whole lot for me to do until season starts.

Maybe its the patience thing Im lacking. Cameras are fun though. Unfortunately a few days after the last round of flooding one of the levees on our place failed, and we lost about half of our cameras.

Check cameras, hunt hogs or spring turkey, and fishing are my main outdoor activities during the offseason. If I've got work to do like clearing shooting lane or putting up a new blind/feeder that will keep me occupied too.
Honestly, my main hobby during the offseason is following the Houston Astros, they play 162 games which means at least 6 days a week from April to October. This year has been a fun year to be a fan of the 'stros, as they are playing better baseball than they have in quite a while. They'll probably break my heart like they always have, but I love baseball and I love my Astros so I'll keep pinning my championship hopes on them and see what happens.

Fly fish, kayak, get the bear baits up and running for the mid-aug to oct bear season and if necessary do any maintenance at the hunt camp.

Hogs, coyotes, and axis deer.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Most of my time seems to be on fixing or maintaining stuff here on our little retirement ranch. But I do spend a lot of time woodworking, reading, varmint hunting, reloading and fishing. I'd like to spend less time fixing, but the stuff I have to fix doesn't listen to me.
Had company the last 3 days, and the guy is a fanatical fisherman, so he was fishing our 1 acre pond (not a "tank'). I fished too, and we caught way more bass than I thought I had in the pond. If not for him, I wouldn't have known.

I like to shoot at targets, hog hunt, fill the freezer with a fat Axis, scout out new hunting locations, and make improvements to year round lease.

I tend to spend the off-season getting divorced, I guess. Got my third set of papers yesterday. It's always been June or July. I'm beginning to think it's me....naaaaahhhhh.

Well look at it this way. Some people spend their whole lives trying to figure out what they are good at.

After all the flooding I definitely have plenty of maintenance to do. Unfortunately with the breaks in our levees is not drying out very fast. I have been able to kill some time trying to figure out how I want to do the log. I have a small group of buddies that are going to try and collaborate and keep it online. Most of us hunt fairly close to each other and will be able to collect more data in theory at least

I spend the off season helping the landowner and working on relationships with neighboring landowners. Set to meet with one of them later this week to discuss leasing a small, 100 acre tract.
I also make time for a few trips to the shooting range for much needed practice and recoil conditioning.

I still hunt almost every weekend. When WT season is done I do some quail hunting and I hit the pigs pretty hard; 29 so far this year. I have an elusive axis buck that I have been after for 4 years. Thank God for game cameras or I wouldn't even know that he is still alive, he must be 8-9 years old now. I follow the other seasons like turkey, and dove as they come around. WT is just another season, the hunting never stops, and neither do the chores.
