Went back out to the same oats field where we got these 6 on Monday...

And hunted with a couple of the relatives of the landowners. The 13 year old grandson was to get the first shot. He was nervous and the piglets hard to see in the grass as individuals. As we waited on him, there was a loud metallic click just before he was going to shoot (safety coming off?) and the piglets got spooked.

So far, hogs have busted us by smell, by sight, and now by sound in this field, but we will be back...

Next time the young man will know to quietly slip the safety off after a long night of stalking. I'm sure he had a good time, but would have liked to have got to shoot one.
God Bless

Yep, 'loud metallic click' in the middle of an oat field is never a good thing. Even piglets know that sound is out of place.

Hopefully the lad will get another chance. Just tell him those were probably ninja piglets, might make him feel better.

Keep after them. Great video.

The tall grass does add a degree of difficulty.

Keep at 'em!
