My main worry is when they were freakin out about this up north, they never really found a cure, but slaughtered a gillion deer and then everything got quiet. Kinda like how we had a huge HIV scare and now nobody even talks about aids anymore. Now Im not foolish enough to think that aids is gone, but it just reminds me of a scare that, well you just gotta wonder about. If anybody could have aids, it should be over run in America, especially with the ease of hooking up with a sexual partner or partners on the web. I can remember when a young gal that had been around a few times was considered a whore, and now its probably like? Its so common to have multiple sexual partners that nobody even thinks of the word whore unless they are prostitutes. This is my analogy please forgive me, but they seem similar and everything seems just fine in an un ethical kind of way. Hey they didn't have internet hook up when I was a single Lad.

It's illogical not to use this situation to learn all that you can. There is an experimental live test that hasn't been validated. If each animal to be euthanized were to have the live test prior to being euthanized for the postmortem test valuable data could be gathered. There is an experimental innoculant that show promise in be able to control the oral transmission of CWD it needs a larger study. There are highly resistant strains of sheep that are nearly immune to Scrapie, we don't know enough about deer genetics, to know if that's also true of deer.

Let me help then. Besides what nsmike said, they've tried to prevent it's spread by "killing them all" in almost every state that CWD is in. They have never been successful.

It's really ignorant to keep doing the same thing over and over and expect different results.

The CWD Task Force meeting tomorrow morning is being held with the main goals to share the most recent CWD developments in the state, as well as to provide the unified TAHC/TPWD recommended framework for Breeder Herd Movement Qualification and Liberation Authorizations.

*Please note that participation in this meeting will be limited to Task Force members only. Seating for others who wish to observe the meeting will be limited and available on a first come, first served basis.
