I've had this scope for a good while but never recorded any video using it.
I primarily use a Pulsar N750 for hunting and doing videos and have the Photon mounted on my backup 6.8.
The display in the scope is gray scale but the video output is in color during the day.

Pardon the grainy video, I had the scope adjusted for night time use and this guy showed up a little early in bright daylight - the suncap for daytime use was in my pocket also...

Cheers,

Fun video! I like to shoot the hogs when they stop for their security checks as well.

The color in the day comes and goes. Seems to be a lighting thing that messes with the filter. I need to go back and look. I had forgotten the 5X didn't have a reticle on the recording. Didn't remember the time/date jumping around either.

Always enjoy your vids and input! up

They weren't jumping around in the scope. That is a video editing feature that allows you to "stabilize" the image where the main body of the image stabilizes, but causes the shifting of things like time stamps. All the shifting of the time stamp you are seeing is going to be how much the scope was actually shaking.

Cool video. Almost looks like a thermal scope.

cheers

I had forgotten the Photon sometimes comes up with color. I was hoping the color was also an editing feature and that maybe we could colorize our own videos! Oh well.

Definitely strange timing on the pigs part...
I've shot over 200 pigs at night using the N750 and Photon 5X and most were at least an hour after dark.

Due to all the rain we have had, I haven't been after them as much as they were on the other side of the flooded creek.
The water finally went down over the last two weeks and the pigs started coming over to my side again.

I have the feeders set to go off at 9PM but the last two pigs I have shot with night vision was well before sundown.

Normally, they come later and later as you shoot them so since I've given them a vacation, they are coming out in daylight.

I just got a Photon XT for my LR308, I wonder if it will record the same in daytime.

If you are referring to daytime color, it was/is a hit and miss thing. It didn't always show up and the colors were more noticeable or vivid at various times. That was the story with my 5X, not sure whether I have noticed the XT have color during the day.

My XT does NOT have color and is virtually useless past 100 yards during the day. The last groundhog I shot at 100 was just a blob. The pigeon I shot @ 80 was better but not clear.
