Was talking with another member the other day about a right handed rifle shooter using a left handed bolt. My thinking is that you never want to give your master grip, so if you shoot right handed why not keep that hand on the rifle and work the bolt with your left? Thoughts?

Right handed bench shooters using push feed actions appreciate left hand actions. Another advantage was you never have to break check/stock weld.

For casual shooting or bench shooting I prefer a righthanded action as I am a lefty. But last season I used a Horizon left handed 22 Creedmoor for coyote hunting and will continue lefty actions for serious hunting. I hunt predators way more than anything else so that's MY serious hunting.

I have shot a rifle left handed all of my life and I use a right hand action. The only thing that I have done, and that was recently, was have Horizon build a rifle for me with a left hand stock on the right hand action. I have always shot pretty well and am quick on the bolt when I need to be. Good luck with what you are thinking of doing.

My thinking is that you never want to give your master grip, so if you shoot right handed why not keep that hand on the rifle and work the bolt with your left? Thoughts? Because your non-firing hand is what stabilizes the rifle with a rear bag. So your left hand should be running the rear bag, and your right hand's only job during firing is trigger control. Once the shot is over maintian the rear bag with your left hand, and cheek resting on the rifle, firing hand (right) cycles the bolt. You should maintain sight picture before, during, and after the shot, even during cycling. You cannot accomplish that if the bolt handle is on the wrong side, because you have to let go of your rear bag (losing rifle stability and sight picture), to cycle the bolt. Right hand bolt for right handed shooters. Left hand bolt for left handed shooters. Come out to the range one day and we can run the stop watch on each other for five shots. Both of us shooting one of my left hand rifles, but you shoot it right handed.

That is wicked looking D. Is that the .22 Creedmore? No that's a .308. This is the 22 Creedmoor it has an ambidextrous thumbhole on it.
